The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is handed over 120 gold bars that were left behind on a train in Switzerland four years ago. Despite four years of searching, the owner of the rods has never been found.
In October 2019, a train employee found the plastic bag in a train from Sankt Gallen to Lucerne. It contained a package with the text “ICRC valuables”. The content: 120 small gold bars, which together weighed 4 kilos. They are now worth about 210,000 euros.
The authorities in Switzerland have searched for almost four years for the owner of the rods, but he has never been found. There is also no reason to think that there is a link with criminal matters.
Three years ago, the public prosecutor in Lucerne reported that the owner had five years to report. But yesterday it was decided that the gold bars will already be sent to the Red Cross. That, according to the prosecution, was very likely the intention of the unknown owner.
