The great playwright Enzo Moscato has passed away after a long illness. Born in Naples on 20 April 1948, Enzo Moscato was an exponent of the New Neapolitan Dramaturgy, the post-Eduardo one of which Annibale Raiuto was also part. His most important works: Scannasurice, Single girls with some experience, Worn out ties, Razors. Winner of the main national theater awards, including the Ubu Prize and the Agis Golden Ticket for Rasoi, a production he directed together with Mario Martone with Toni Servillo.
Enzo Moscato directed the theater merchant from 2003 to 2006 and taught dramaturgy and theater writing at Sister Orsola Benincasa e all’University of Fisciano from 2005 to 2010. At the cinema he was directed by Mario Martone for “Death of a Neapolitan Mathematician”, “Rasoi” and “Il giovanno favoloso”. Among the best known films also “I vesuviani” in the Maruzzella episode directed by Antonietta De Lillo. He will return to work with the director in the film “Il resto di niente” in 2004. In 1993 he was directed by Pappi Corsicato in the film “Libera”. In 2005 she was in the cast of Mater Natura by Massimo Andrei in the iconic role of Europa, adoptive mother of all the femminielli. His latest film, “On the Volcano”, is from 2014.
Enzo Moscato was also a great interpreter. He has recorded four albums: Embargos (1994), Cantà (2001), Hotel de l’Univers (2005) and Toledo Suite (2012). Worthy of note are the versions of Palomma ‘e notte by Salvatore Di Giacomo, also included in the film “Death of a Neapolitan mathematician”; and Palomma included in the 2012 album Toledo Suite.
