The renowned comedy club Caroline in New York will open its functions again to the public this Thursday, May 27 after being closed for more than a year due to the restrictions generated by the coronavirus pandemic.

The new feature, headlined by comedian Donnell Rawlings, will make Caroline the first comedy club to open with live performances in Times Square.

Broadway theaters will not open their doors until September 2, according to local authorities.

“We add programs every day, but it is difficult to keep up with the new guidance from the state, which is updated almost every day,” said in an interview for The New York Post, the owner of the club, Caroline Hirsch.

Hirsch added that part of the humor that will be given within the club will be focused on the difficulties of returning to normality after more than a year of restriction and confinement measures. Topic that most New Yorkers identify with.

About six weeks ago, Hirsch started selling tickets online, but says it was impossible to know who had been vaccinated and who had not. The events had to be organized only with immunized people.

“We were selling tickets online and we had no way of knowing who was vaccinated”, express.

Early roles with Rawlings, known as a cast member of the television series “Chappelle’s Show” and the HBO drama “The Wire”, will include members of the audience both vaccinated and unvaccinated.

The iconic New York comedy club reported that it just added a second show of Rawlings next May 30 only for vaccinated attendees.

The club announced that the shows will have a reduced capacity of 120 seats out of the 300 total due to the social distancing measure that must still remain in some venues, including clubs and theaters. Hirsch reported that the tables will be at least six feet apart.

The owner of the club pointed out that although they will reopen their functions, but that they have a shortage of staff, since they have not been able to find enough waiters or people to attend the kitchen. A situation similar to what New York restaurants have experienced since they began to reactivate their interior spaces.
