Iconic Ecuadorian Television Newscaster Retires After 56 Years

At the age of 81, an icon of Ecuadorian television retires. Yesterday Don Alfonso Espinosa from Los Monteros announced that he will be on the Televistazo newscast until May 1.

The communicator presented Televistazo for 56 years without interruption. This granted him the Guinness record as: “The newscaster with the longest years on the air”.

Don Alfonso expressed the following last night: “This is a special day for me, when I myself become news. I want to inform you of a very important decision that I have made, something that, surely, many expect or at least intuit in this moment. After 56 years of continuous work, I retire from Televistazo”

We also remember him as the host of the contest program: “Who wants to be a millionaire (2001-2004 and 2009), reaching high ratings throughout the country.

One of the most recent data was that Don Alfonso became the first Ecuadorian to participate as a voice actor in a Hollywood production of the movie ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ from Paramount Pictures.
