Icelandic “Gus Gus” – Music will perform at the Ventspils City Festival

This Saturday, August 7, the culmination of the Ventspils City Festival will also have an ambitious musical touch – Ventspils residents and city guests will be able to listen to the concerts of the groups “Sudden Lights”, “Jumprava” and “Gus Gus”.

The festive program in Reņķa dārzs will start at 8 pm with the pop rock group “Sudden Lights”, the sound of which is characterized by sticky, easy-to-dance melodies, energy of musicians and zeal of youth. The band has already proven itself with several strong hits that have won the tops of Latvian radio stations – “Silence”, “Take my place”, “Suburb Waltz”, “Chaos” and others. At 9 pm, the legendary group “Jumprava” will take the stage with this year’s only big concert – they will play the anniversary super-hit program “XO”, which was performed two years ago in a fully sold-out concert “Arena Riga”. It should be noted that we are currently actively working on the feature film “Jumprava. The big event ”, which will reach the audience in the beginning of 2022.

After the grandiose fireworks at midnight, electronic dance music stars will take the stage – the group “Gus Gus” from Iceland, which already visited Ventspils in 2012, as part of the “Arabian Horse” tour. This group gained international recognition in the late 1990s. The composition of Gus Gus has changed several times, but the core has remained the same: Bigi Viera (Biggi Veira) and the owner of the hypnotic voice, Daníel Ágúst. After 25 years of music, concert tours and unforgettable live performances, Gus Gus returns with a new album, Mobile Home, and a new member of the band, Margrét Rán, owner of the beautiful voice from the Vök project. Ventspils will be one of the first places in Europe to present the new tour program in person.

The entrance fee will be just six euros. Tickets will be available from 7 pm at the box office at Reņķa Garden. Admission is free for children under 6 years of age in the presence of parents. The visit to the Reņķa Garden sales area will be unrestricted, while a valid Covid-19 vaccination or disease certificate must be presented at the entrance to the concert area.
