He has already shown it in the last two seasons, albeit out of necessity. When too many strikers were out, Lukas Schreier forward and after a few attempts he got the hang of it. Now he is finally becoming a striker.

Permanent position changes are nothing unusual in ice hockey, but they are still quite rare. Anyone who has been following the Red Bulls for a while will remember: Under head coach Pierre Pagé (2007 to 2013), strikers Matthias Trattnig and Dominique Heinrich became defenders and successfully implemented their new role for many years.

Now Lukas Schreier is also reorienting himself and can now concentrate on scoring goals. “It was a new situation for me because I’ve always played as a defender since I was little. But I immediately felt comfortable there, even though it’s a completely different game.”

In just eight days, the Red Bulls’ first test match against EV Zug will take place in Zell am See, where Lukas Schreier will officially start his new career as a striker. One week later, from August 16th to 17th, fans and players can look forward to the first highlight before the new season with the Red Bulls Salute in Zell am See.
