More than a million people lost power on Thursday after an ice storm hit Canada’s two most populous provinces.
The electrical impact was caused by freezing rains and strong winds, which felled trees and overloaded power lines.

About a million people lost power in Quebec and about 120,000 in Ontario as of noon Thursday, according to Poweroutage.com.
Notably, both provinces account for more than half of Canada’s total population of 39 million.
The suppliers of both companies worked to restore power to both provinces. However, it is expected that the repairs could take a few days, so many Canadians could spend the Easter weekend without power.
