Ice skating rink opens at Rockefeller Center in New York

The historic ice skating rink at Rockefeller Center in New York has opened for this year’s fall and winter seasons. Since early Saturday morning, visitors have been able to move over the ice again with a view of the tall building in the middle of Manhattan.

The ice skating rink, which opened in 1936, attracts a quarter of a million visitors each year. The Christmas tree in front of the rink, which is lit during the celebration after Thanksgiving, is considered one of the main attractions in New York at Christmas time. Tickets for the ice rink cost between 21 and 114 dollars (19 to 104 euros) depending on the day and time, plus the cost of renting skates.
