An ICE has been searched in Wunstorf near Hanover. Police officers suspected explosives on the train. The first clues now led to a young person from Cologne. He was arrested.
Because of a suspicion of explosives, the federal police searched an ICE in Wunstorf near Hanover with sniffer dogs. The suspicion was not confirmed, but a 17-year-old suspect was arrested for the time being.
The 17-year-old is suspected of preparing a serious act of violence that endangers the state, said the Düsseldorf public prosecutor and the Cologne police on Sunday.
Hanover: A young person turned off a suspicious bag
Accordingly, the first clues led to the investigation of the young person from the greater Cologne area. The federal police picked him up at Hanover Central Station on Saturday afternoon. Accordingly, the 17-year-old behaved conspicuously during a check in the ICE, which was later searched. He also left a bag with objects at the travel center.
The area was then cordoned off, but there was only clothing in the bag. A defuser also examined the suspect’s bag, but found it contained no dangerous items.
Police received a warning from colleagues in Cologne
The Hanover police said the operations were preceded by a note from the police in Cologne. The officials were then informed on site via the state criminal police offices in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony.
The Cologne state security has set up an investigation group. The public prosecutor’s office in Düsseldorf plans to provide more information on Monday.
