The world-famous New York ice rink at Rockefeller Center celebrated its season start on Saturday. In the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, however, the operators have planned a shorter opening – until January 17th. Traditionally, the facility attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors until the end of April. The earlier end is also related to planned renovations.
The ice rink was first set up for Christmas 1936. It is easy to recognize by the gold-colored statue of Prometheus from Greek mythology and the many US flags.
New Yorkers and visitors don’t have to do without the traditional Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan during the Corona crisis. The giant spruce was erected last weekend. Tens of thousands of lights should go on there at the beginning of December.
