Compared to the opening match with the Russians, the coaches decided to pen five line-up changes, the newly included defenders Lukáš Klok and Andrej Šustr and the attackers Matěj Stránský, Radan Lenc and Matěj Blümel experienced their premiere at the World Cup. On the other hand, the quarterbacks Moravčík and Vitásk and the forwarders Sekáč, Radil and Robin Hanzl remained out of the game.

In the even first period, the Swiss were the first to threaten, but goalkeeper Hrubec coped with Siegenthaler’s attempt. In the 15th minute, during a signaled foul on Sˇulák, Blümel reached the stop, but he did not come to Genoni.

But the Czechs did not have to regret it for a long time, because they used the subsequent second power play. After a combination with Kovář and Vrána, he opened the Chytil score. However, the Swiss also helped themselves with their second numerical advantage in the match, and two and a half minutes later Hofmann equalized with a cannonball from the blue.

After the change of sides, they succeeded with the Swiss again in their power play. Although Flek first scared himself to Genoni in weakness, he sent the backhand bluff only to the goalkeeper’s catcher. In the continuing advantage of the team of the Helvetic Cross, Captain Hischier found Maier with a pass through the axis of the field, who shot Hrubce with a blow from the volley.

And if Hrubec hadn’t caught the escaping Andrighett in the middle of the match, it was even worse with the Czechs. Pešán’s team then took the initiative, squeezing the opponent several times in his defensive zone, but without effect. In the 39th minute, Scherwey showed the back of the Czech defense, and although he was fouled from behind by Šulák, he managed to increase to 3: 1.

Roman Will replaced Hrubce in the goal from the third period and tasted his debut at the world championship on his 29th birthday. At the same time, coach Pešán mixed with the attacks, trying to find any recipe that would wake the team from lethargy, but there was no significant improvement.

In addition, the unnecessary fouls of Sklenička and Chytila were further reduced by hopes, at least for comparison. And when Chytil did not spend a full two minutes on the penalty bench, because Meier increased his second goal and third Swiss power play to 4: 1, he was amen to the Czechs.

The flash came in the 55th minute after Smejkal’s skillful run of Chytil’s throw. The Czechs immediately tried the game without a goalkeeper, but another illegal intervention came; this time Kovářův; and the fourth used power play of the opponent, this time Hofmann doubled his goal account and closed at the final 5: 2.
