The camp will start on December 11 in Piešťany, after four days the team will fly to Red Deer, where it will be joined by hockey players working overseas. A 32-year-old American will join them Scott Moser, which expanded the coaching team to the position of assistant.

“Nominations were not easy or short. In the end, we opted for 31 names. The most important factor in choosing them was performance. “ said the head coach of the U20 national team Ivan Feneš.

“We tried to make the team of players so that we had both experience and quality, as well as hockey players in overtime or weakening, as well as strength in the goalkeeper’s position. To sum it up, we put together a great team of young players who have already made Slovakia a lot of joy. We will fly to Canada to make our hockey next. “

The nomination includes 13 players who played at the U20 World Cup last year. It contains 16 hockey players born in 2002, six born in 2003 and seven from 2004, which presented itself at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in the summer, where it won a historic advance to the finals. The team also includes two years in 2005, Dalibor Dvorský and Maxim Štrbák.

“Both have earned nominations with great performances in recent times. Not only in their clubs, but also in the national team. For us, performance will always be a key factor in creating a nomination. She also decided in favor of Dalibor and Maxim, “ explained their choice of head coach.

His assistants will be Martin Štrbák and Tibor Tartaľ. Upon arrival in Canada, a new reinforcement will join the expedition, 32-year-old Scott Moser. “We chose Scott for his overseas rink experience. He is a man who has been working at an American university for a long time. He has a great name in this environment. His task will be to analyze the game of opponents and prepare our team for each of them. During the matches, he will also be in the position of a consultant who will send us information from above the stand, “ Ivan Feneš said.

Moser works as a coach of the U.S. Under-16 Team in the Team Navy project and also as an assistant coach at the University of Vermont at the NCAA.

PROGRAM

Slovaks will first undergo mandatory PCR testing in Piešťany on December 11 and then five training units. They fly to Canada on December 15. Upon arrival, everyone will go to a two-day isolation, from which they will be able to go to training after a negative PCR test.

They will also play two preparatory matches before the championship, on December 20 from 20.00 our time against Finland and on December 22 at 3.30 against Austria.

“It will be a preparatory sprint in Canada. We can skate for the first training after isolation until December 18, while we only have 90 minutes of training available per day. After two preparatory duels, we only have four trainings waiting for us before the sharp start of the championship, “said Feneš.

Compared to last year, the World Championships will also take place in the presence of spectators in both halls. The entrance to the stands will be fully vaccinated, the website said hockeyslovakia.sk.
