The Slovak hockey team returned home after performing at the World Championships in Riga, Latvia. After eight years, the Slovaks reached the quarterfinals for the first time there, in which they were not enough to choose the USA.

Despite Thursday’s drop-out, the Slovaks’ performance in Riga can be evaluated as successful, as a selection with an average age of less than 25 years was presented at the World Championships, which has not happened so far.

“The result from the quarterfinals is probably a bit unfair, we wanted to put a little more into it. We wanted to go through the quarterfinals, but I’m proud of all the guys. I believe it gave us a lot of experience in our careers. I myself tried to I could count on us. I’m glad we did. On the other hand, I always want more and I wanted to move on. I’m sad about that. “ After arriving in Slovakia, Peter Cehlárik, currently the most productive player of the championship, remarked in the video of the Slovak Ice Hockey Association (SZĽH).

Slovaks as well as other teams operated in Latvia in the so-called bubble, returning home also has a positive touch for them. “We’re glad we’re out of the bubble, we have some freedom and a more normal life,” added Cehlárik.

I did not expect to go to the World Cup in 20 years “I’m grateful for that. Now I have some time off and then summer training in Liberec,” revealed.
