The Slovak national hockey team at the World Championships in Riga, Latvia, did not make the final performance in the basic A-group according to their ideas. Coach Craig Ramsay’s entrants lost to the Czech Republic 3: 7, while both opponents were already sure of advancing to the quarterfinals of the playoffs and entered without more support.

The Slovaks collected 12 points in seven duels at the World Championships, took 4th place in the A-group table and will play against the winners of the B-group Americans in the quarterfinals on Thursday. The Slovak team got into the elimination part of the World Championships after eight years.
In the 68th mutual duel of both opponents, 47 Slovak losses were born, so far they have achieved 14 victories and 7 duels ended in a draw. Even after Tuesday, the Slovak team won the Czech team at the World Cup for the last time in the semifinals of the championship in Helsinki 2012. Since then, the Slovaks have lost Minsk 2014 and Copenhagen 2018 at the world championships.
