Anton Wedin gave the visitors the lead only after twelve minutes of play. Three minutes later, Emil Pettersson added with a delicious spin with his ninth goal of the season.
With the visitors’ 2-0 goal, Färjestad took time out and it looked like the bleeding would be stopped. But 24 seconds from the end of the period, Jonathan Dahlén made it 3-0 via a distinctive finish from the left.
– We concede far too many opportunities and they take advantage of them. We have to go up a few notches. We weigh too lightly in the duel game and have to cover up better for each other, said Färjestad’s Per Åslund to TV4 after 20 minutes.
Match penalty on Färjestadsbacken
The second period was scoreless and was more closed than the first. However, we got to see the quartet of referees hand out a match penalty to Färjestad’s back, Jeremy Groleau, after a situation with Anton Lander (see clip above).
In a battle for the puck, Groleau first gets down to the rim where the puck is and then puts a shoulder to Lander’s face.
No more goals
Neither did the third period offer any goals, but Timrå won 3-0 and took their third straight victory. For Färjestad, this was the third loss in the last five rounds.
– We are good for long periods, but it doesn’t help when you give away 3-0. We all have to do a better job and be ready when we come out. We show in the second period when we are cursed that we can play good hockey, but it is not enough when we are not involved from the beginning, said FBK coach Tomas Mitell.
On Thursday, Timrå takes on Modo at home, while Färjestad travels to Malmö.
