Ice Hockey, Sports | Norwegian hockey talent got contract with NHL club – follows in “Shampoo’s” footsteps

Ice hockey talent Ole Julian Bjørgvik Holm (19) signed a contract with the NHL club Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday.

It confirms both the American club and the Norwegian great talent himself on Monday night.

Thus, Holm follows in the footsteps of Espen “Shampo” Knutsen and Ole Kristian Tollefsen, who have both played for the Blue Jackets before.

The 19-year-old was drafted by the NHL club last year. It gave the Blue Jackets the rights to sign Holm over the next three years. Now the contract is in place.

Honored

– I am very happy and honored to announce that I have signed my first NHL contract with the Blue Jackets, the hockey talent writes on his Twitter account.

The agreement that has now been entered into extends over three seasons.

Holm played parts of last season on loan at Manglerud Star, before he donned the suit for the Cleveland Monsters in the AHL. In the American club there were 16 games and five goal points.

The 19-year-old made his A national team debut for Norway in the run-up to this year’s World Cup in Latvia. He also got a place in the final squad for the championship. So far, there have been six matches with the flag on the chest.

Tollefsen as a mentor

Backen, who traveled to the United States as a 16-year-old to bet on ice hockey, said in an interview with his new club’s website some time ago that former Blue Jackets player Ole Kristian Tollefsen has been his mentor.

– He has been fantastic. I’m very lucky to have him by my side. He sends me text messages from time to time and asks how things are going. He also sees some of my struggles, and tells what I can do better and what I do well, said the 19-year-old.

In the same interview, former national team captain Tollefsen spoke warmly about Holm.

– He is determined, stays in good shape, he is a training freak, so he does all the right things to become a hockey player, he said.

Tollefsen played 163 NHL games in his career. He represented the Blue Jackets for four seasons in the period 2006 to 2009. Thereafter, injuries created problems.
