It was a total of six seasons as a player in Modo for Markus Näslund. He has also worked in the club as general manager. In addition to that, the forward had a long and successful career in the NHL and he has both WC silver and bronze with Tre Kronor.
Before the relegation between Modo and Färjestad, he had his merit banner raised to the ceiling.
– It feels extremely flattering to be noticed in this nice way and to be able to do it with all of you in the audience tonight, he says in his speech after the red carpet was rolled out on the ice.
The stars paid tribute
Tributes have been posted throughout the day on Modo’s social media, including from the Sedin brothers, Peter Forsberg and global artist Michael Buble.

Näslund was accompanied by Peter Forsberg, Niklas Sundström and Modo’s current team captain David Rundblad when the flag was raised before the start of the match.
However, there was no further match by Modo.
The Örnsköldsvik team conceded 0–1 after just one minute and when all was said and done they had clearly lost 0–6.
