This Tuesday evening at the Coliseum, the Gothics of Amiens suffered against the Boxers of Bordeaux. Which made their strike force speak when the Picards were very timid offensively.
At kick-off, a point separated the Gothiques d’Amiens, third, from the Boxers de Bordeaux, fourth, and it was to the advantage of the former. In the lineup, Lepage absent gave his place to Opoma, Fouquerel made a third start in the Ligue Magnus. Building on the momentum of his last matches, against Angers or Rouen where he was phenomenal, Fouky keeps the pace against the Bordeaux attackers. The match began with an observation round and we had to wait almost five minutes before seeing the Amiens goalkeeper reject the first throw of the match attempted by Jevpalovs (4 »16). The Amiens cerberus also showed himself solid in front of Polcs, Gegeris. His Girondin counterpart did not have as much work, but he was also able to be vigilant when necessary. The Boxers ended up bending the Amiens defense, helped by a favorable counterattack in the neutral zone which allowed Carry to breakaway and adjust Fouquerel (0-1, 16’20).
The start of the second third was logically to the advantage of the Bordelais, in powerplay after the penalty conceded by Magovac. But the visitors did not benefit, just like the Amiens in numerical superiority when Carry was sent to prison. However, Bergeron and Magovac tried to put in difficulty a Papillon who had been decidedly quiet since the start of the match. Also calm because Mario Richer’s players experienced a surprising difficulty when leaving their zone. Bordeaux, who pressed effectively, logically took the upper hand, but suffered a big scare on Amiens’ biggest opportunity and missed by Tessier almost in Papillon’s slot. Salonen gave his team a break ahead of a mix-up (0-2, 32’32).
In the wake of the second goal, Fouquerel, like against Angers more than a week ago, narrowly missed being fooled by the changing trajectory of the puck. The Amiens goalkeeper saved his team magnificently by winning his duel against Guidoux, but he was powerless on Lemaitre’s powerful throw into the top corner. (0-3, 37’17). Just to dampen Amiens’ hopes of a potential comeback, Prissaint, slightly ahead of the blue, imitated Lemaitre and found the net with a precise throw (0-4, 42’36). Little in sight since the start of the match, the Amiens attack lacked spontaneity around the Papillon cage and Maïa, then Lavigne a few minutes later stumbled on the Boxers goalkeeper. Following a big lift from Djemel’s puck, Lavigne found Tessier who deceived Papillon and saved him from the shutout (1-4, 49’34). A minute later, then in numerical superiority, the Bordeaux top scorer, well served at the far post by Carry, only had to adjust Fouquerel (1-5, 50’55). The gap was made and Bordeaux managed their lead perfectly, which was maintained until the siren sounded.
