Rouen is surprised.
At home Rouen wants to show his presence immediately and it took Boivin half a lap to distinguish himself by shooting just before Weninger’s goal (00.31).

If Norman is in possession of the puck in the first few minutes, Nice is more dangerous and forces Pintaric to work ahead of Mickevics (03.45) and Stebih (05.03). Rouen reacts with Tessier (05.15) and Lamperier (07.31) but the last bastion of the eagles responds present.
The game is balanced and neither team takes the lead over the other. It takes a power play to the advantage of the Eagles for the situation to unlock.
The puck circulates well in the sticks of Nice and it is Mickevics who makes the point to finish with a powerful launch on the left in the skylight out of reach of Pintaric (14.45 / 0-1 / Mickevics ass. Belisle and Bonnardel).
The reaction of the dragons is timid and only an action on a quick attack by the Mallet Beauchemin duo fails on Weninger and Cantagallo on the rebound shoots a little wide (17.27).
Nice will obviously use its power play to lower the flag to enterprising but not yet effective dragons.
Rouen reaction.
With a goal behind him, Rouen started the second third putting pressure on the Nice people who made a mistake. The power play will allow the dragons to return to parity.

The puck is in Beauchemin’s ass on the right side who delivers a caviar pass to Mallet on the opposite side who kicks Weninger for the equalizer (21.22 / 1-1 / Mallet ass. Beauchemin and Lamperier).
The intensity of the Normans does not fade but collides with Nice, well grouped and above all very difficult to manage.
It takes a personal feat from Tessier for the Giallorossi to take the lead.
Elorinne in her defensive zone finds Tessier climbing all the ice on the left and with a wrist shot blocks the puck out of Weninger’s retrieve (27.29 / 2-1 / Tessier abs. Elorinne).
In the third half, Rouen will have overturned the score. Pintaric will allow his team to stay ahead by winning with authority in front of Bonnardel and Kuronen (29.15). The end of the third is approaching, when Nice choose to do a little more.
If Belisle, for the first time, fails to equalize despite a wide open cage (38.10), the second will score.
Penz, on the right, scratches a puck in the offensive zone and finds Belisle on the opposite side who deceives Pintaric with a half high shot (38.16 / 2-2 / Belisle abs. Penz and Mickevics).
Rouen would not have been able to maintain their advantage as they were recovered at the end of the third against Nice, well organized and difficult to maneuver.
Rouen takes the lead.

For the latter third, Rouen’s business did not improve, they reached Nice at the end of the second period, they attacked this without Mallet and Elorinne being affected. But it takes more to make a dragon abdicate.
It should be noted that goalkeeper Weninger was able to testify with interventions in front of Beauchemin (40.23), Vigners (42.17) and Cantagallo (43.28). He will still be ahead of Tessier thanks to an intervention from the muffle (46.30). But there are limits and the Norman three-way game will prevail over the combativeness of the last bastion of the eagles.

The match draws to a close and Nice will play their way, leaving the goalkeeper (58.43) but unfortunately for Sutor’s men without success.
The duo Beauchemin – Boivin came out the winner, the latter offered Tomasino the goal of liberation with an empty cage (59.13 / 4-2 / Tomasino ass. Boivin and Beauchemin).
Rouen wins this first match of the 2022/2023 vintage against a Nice team that will make many others suffer. If not everything was perfect among the dragons, they will have had, as always, the merit of never giving up but we already feel that the automatisms are there even if they can still be perfected especially on a defensive level.
In the press area Fabrice Lhenry will say he is satisfied with the seriousness and good intensity of the dragons even if the dragons have sinned in the final. He was not surprised by the Nice opposition because by recruiting the eagles and seeing them evolve he knew the opposition would be great.
