24 hours after the bitter 2-4 home defeat against Black Wings in 1992, EC Red Bull Salzburg are also defeated by HC Innsbruck at home.
The Haie win the supplementary game of the 14th round of the ICE Hockey League after a strong final third with 4: 2 (0: 0.0: 2.4: 0). The Bulls leave important points in the fight for fourth place with the Vienna Capitals.
The Salzburg team, with the veterans Schofield, Heinrich, Rauchwald, McIntyre and Joslin pausing, start the game well after 35 seconds with a pole hit by Hochkofler.
As a result, playback errors creep in again and again – especially on the side of the home side. Ciampini (12th) and Christoffer (15th) have a breakaway, both fail in a one-on-one against Salzburg goalie Lamoureux.
Strong debut from Wimmer
After the first break, the people of Mozartstadt come out of the dressing room more actively and reward themselves for their commitment in the 27th minute. Ironically, Wimmer, who is making his debut in the ICE Hockey League, scores 1-0. His Blueliner hits under the bar, Hochkofler obstructs Innsbruck goalkeeper McCollum’s view.
Only two minutes later, the home side strike again, Huber nets a power play with an on timer (29th). The sharks swim for a few minutes, but find their way back into the game shortly before the siren and give one of their best chances through Mr (40th).

Game winner in the final phase
At the beginning of the third section, the Salzburg team was outnumbered by Jakubitza (42nd), but then Innsbruck strikes back. Racine-Clarke made the connection with a Wristshot from the blue line (44./PP), half a minute later Herr equalized with a nice solo (45th).
In the further course it goes back and forth, both teams come to their chances. The guests from Tyrol do it better, Ciampini defeats the batless Lamoureux in the 58th minute and turns the game in favor of the Haie.
Salzburg then risks everything again and takes its keeper off the ice. That takes revenge, Sideroff wets four seconds before the end after Ciampini only hits the pole (60./EN).
The Mozartstadters stay in fifth place with 63 points from 38 games. The gap to the fourth-placed caps is still six points with one game less. The Innsbruckers do not improve either and continue to rank ninth (47 points from 38 games), but move up to three points on the Graz99ers and the Bratislava Capitals.
Salzburg is already qualified for the Pick Round, but has to contest it without bonus points. HC Innsbruck has to be satisfied with the Qualification Round, but can still get more than the current two bonus points.
