Ice hockey: Dresden-Bubi (17) with dream goal on professional debut | sport

The first name Felix is Latin and has several meanings in German: happy, successful and lucky. And in this fairytale debut in German ice hockey, everything happens at once…

Bubi Felix Krüger from the Dresdner Eislöwen scored an absolute dream goal in his first professional game against Weiden (3:2 nP). BILD tells its story.

The homegrown player only turned 17 at the end of August, slipped into the DEL2 squad due to three failures and hit the target from the blue line to make it 2-1 (26th)!

And as a defender for his hometown club. Because Krüger is a native of Dresden.

Sports director Matthias Roos (44): “A great thing! Matej Mrazek held the puck against the boards for almost fifteen seconds and passed it back to Felix, who then brought it hard onto the goal!”

Who is the super gem? Krüger is a German U18 national player and is trained there by the best DEL scorer of all time, Patrick Reimer (41, 1089 games, 394 goals, 465 assists).

Eislöwen coach Niklas Sundblad is also happy about Krüger’s debut

The first division legend of German ice hockey (including Nürnberg Ice Tigers, Düsseldorfer EG) is also enthusiastic. “I watched the video on Monday,” Reimer tells BILD. “That’s really special, a great story. We want talented people to duel with adult professionals, gain the trust to play and pay the clubs back.”

At the beginning of August, the ex-DEL star had Krüger under his wing at an international U18 tournament in Canada. Reimer: “Felix did a solid job defensively. Nevertheless, you can improve anywhere at that age. It will be important for him to play an even better first pass on offense in the transition game.”

Dresden’s sports director Roos says: “We like Felix’s running technique and speed, he is an excellent ice skater!” Krüger also impresses with his good eye and positional play. They say he actually needs to work on his shot – although no one noticed that on Sunday.

Reimer grins: “But he won’t be judged on goals so quickly!”

Extra praise from the coach

The Dresden Ice Lions have the ritual of selecting a Man of the Match as a team after every game. It was almost logical that the team, which was full of veterans, decided on Krüger!

And the coach went all out with the special praise! Niklas Sundblad (51): “I would like to highlight Felix. He did a great job, especially after we only had five defenders.”

Because Samuel Schindler (19), who started the game ailing, had to stay in the dressing room after the first third, Krüger’s deployment was even longer and more important. As a minor, he had to wear a full visor.

The youngster will probably be there again on Wednesday (7.30 p.m.) at the away game in Freiburg. Meanwhile, the Ice Lions advised their fans on Instagram: “Call your children Felix again…”
