What do you think of this HCC 2022/2023 version, which has not substantially changed from its predecessor?

“We are still in the adjustment phase. Saturday will therefore be an opportunity to see where the team is after the three preparatory races and that of the Coupe de France, of which we can draw up a mixed record. We have kept the core of the players from last season. The recruitment seems to me to be of high quality, especially with the return of Jakub Matejka. He and Vladimir Mikula complement each other perfectly and on his first visit he always got along well with everyone. Recovering it is therefore an added value. The two Slovaks will be associated with the newcomer, Grigorijs Holodkovs. This attack trio can be very interesting because we have experience, youth and quality there. From what I have seen so far, both in spirit and in the game, this Latvian is really complete, well above the level from a technical point of view and from a skating point of view. If he improves in finishing, in my opinion he will be a team leader.

The club has also bet on a young French goalkeeper. In recent years we have relied on fairly experienced goals that could change the face of a match. Nils Brun is a determined and involved person who will want to shine with the Galli as he did at home against Metz, where I think he was pleasantly surprised by the fervor of our fans. . “

What lessons can we learn from the first four releases?

“Our desire this year was to be able to count on twenty good players, to face the unexpected and that the young players have time on the ice and thus become stronger. The preparation was not easy given the constraints linked to holidays, work, everyone’s personal life, not to mention the small wounds. We lost to Valenciennes (12-3) for not being complete, especially in defense. Otherwise, perhaps, with an upstream preparation comparable to theirs, we would have reduced the gap a bit. We could see that they were much better than us because they were better prepared and had a much larger squad than ours. Against Metz in Châlons (victory 7-4), we played a very small team, which had grown to eleven. At home (9-3 defeat) we saw the difference in the fact that they were more numerous, while we still lacked some full-backs, but the score does not reflect the progress of the match. The Compiègne Cup round, in which I did not participate, ended with a great success (4-1) with a hat-trick from Vladimir Mikula. From what I have been told, the team has shown great cohesion. “

You are in a group of seven of which the first six will go to the finals. However, with only twelve days, there is hardly any room for error …

Dijon, like Compiègne, should be a direct opponent in the league. Getting started there isn’t easy. In fact, we will have to give importance to each of our matches. This group is quite homogeneous, a bit like last season: with pride we could have snatched the sixth and last qualifying place in the play-offs but, with two more points, we would have finished second. This year it would be a shame to wait for the last three games of the regular season to get a boost, it would be nice to get into a good dynamic right away. “
