Ice hockey: Calgary trades away Elias Lindholm – moves to Vancouver

In exchange for 29-year-old Lindholm, Calgary gets Andrej Kuzmenko as well as Hunter Brzustewicz and Joni Jurmo. In addition to the players, Calgary also gets Vancouver’s first-round pick in the 2024 draft as well as a fourth-round pick that will become the third round instead if Vancouver goes to the semifinals of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

– By signing Elias Lindholm, we feel that we are improving our team enormously. He has proven that he is a first-string player and will give our coach Rick Tocchet a little more opportunity when he has to shape our two top chains, says Vancouver’s Swedish general manager Patrik Allvin on the team’s website.

Elias Lindholm has scored 32 points (nine goals and 23 assists) in the 49 games he has played this season with Calgary.

The current season was Lindholm’s sixth with Calgary. In recent seasons, he has scored goals, but this season it has gone a little worse.

In Vancouver, Elias Lindholm is joined by compatriots Nils Åman, Nils Höglander and Elias Pettersson.

The latter, Lindholm can play with already this weekend because both he and Pettersson are selected to play the prestigious All Star game this weekend.
