Already beaten 3-1 at the very start of the season in Bordeaux, the Gothiques were once again subjected to the law of the Girondins, this time at home in a match at the top of the table awaited with curiosity following the Amiens victories against Angers (5-2) and Rouen (6-2). But the success and desire that had accompanied them those two evenings were not there.
Lepage last minute package in defense
Especially since the Amiens were playing without their robust defender Jordan Lepage, a last minute withdrawal although he had been decisive recently, and replaced by Plagnat. Intense and rather dominated by Bordeaux, the first period saw the Boxers open the scoring when Carry was forgotten by the defense to beat Fouquerel who had until then been solid (0-1).

Phelan was not far from equalizing in a second third lacking commitment on the Amiens side but, while Tessier had in turn had a good puck in front of Papillon’s goal, it was Bordeaux who made the break on an action confused in the Fouquerel area. A 0-2 that the Amiens did not contest, sparing themselves a call to the “coach challenge”.
Tessier narrows the gap in the final third
The following minutes were more complicated, the Boxers seeking to press on the head of Amiénois already a little stunned by this second goal… and having, overall, a less complete squad. And what was supposed to happen ended up happening with this 3rd Bordeaux goal, coming from a throw from the blue line while the Amiens defense was unable to get the puck out of its zone.

Three goals behind at the break which had, barring a miracle, sealed the fate of the match. The Amiens training Axel Prissaint hit the nail on the head with a throw under the bar on the restart and if Tessier reduced the gap, the last word remained for the Bordelais with a 5th goal in superiority.

REACTION
Mario Richer, coach of the Amiens Gothiques: “We must give credit to Bordeaux, which is a very complete, structured and imposing team, which will finish in the top two. For our part, we thought it would be easy after beating Angers and Rouen. We didn’t show up. We didn’t play like the Gothics. It was Halloween: some were ghosts and others were babies who were scared and lost their pants! Those who have cobwebs in their heads, we have seen them! The guys had two days off this weekend. They had a Halloween party. They won’t have any more this year! »
