Hellkvist has been with the SHL club Leksand since 2021 when he extended his contract to the 2024-25 season. Before the coming season, Leksand had contracts with four coaches and one needed to be removed.
Leksand will continue with Mikael Karlberg, Challe Berglund and goalkeeper coach Alexander Millner.

Hellkvist will have Daniel Rahimi, retired after the season, as his assistant in the hockey Allsvenskan team. Hellkvist was on sick leave for large parts of the season but was declared healthy in the spring and then had a scouting assignment for Leksand.
– I am passionate about projects and this is a great and wonderful challenge. A project is not over because you achieve success, but it is the final goal that is important, says Björn Hellkvist to Björklöven’s website.
The contract is written for one year.
