A man in his 40s is charged with serious threats after he allegedly threatened a female ice truck driver in Lillesand.

It was around 7.45 pm on Tuesday night when the police were notified that the driver of an ice cream truck had been subjected to threats. This must have happened when the ice cream truck drove around a residential area in Lillesand in Agder.

The police then sent armed police to the scene and arrested a man a few hours later, who is now suspected of threats.

– It was a very scary experience for the driver of the ice cream truck. She was threatened with an object, says operations manager Eivind Formo in the Agder police district.

– It is not commonplace for the driver of an ice cream truck to drive around and be exposed to something like that.

The case was investigated and the suspect was questioned. The police have not stated whether the suspects and victims have a relationship.

On Wednesday afternoon, it became known that a man in his 40s has been charged with serious threats with a weapon in Lillesand after threatening the ice truck driver on Tuesday night.

The police carried out a major police operation to arrest the man, who was entrenched in a house. At 11.30 pm, he was arrested without drama.

The police do not want to go into detail about how the weapons were used, and the motive for the actions is unknown. However, the accused is known to the police from the past.

Mari Ellestad, Communications Director at Diplom-Is, confirms to VG that one of their employees was exposed to the threats.

– This is a very sad case. Our focus is to take care of her and support her, she is fine after the relationship, but an incident like this is tough, says Ellestad.

As far as she knows, this is the first time an ice truck driver has been exposed to such an incident.
