The KNMI will issue the code orange for the whole country from the end of the afternoon. In Zeeland and South Holland, the weather code is in effect from 17:00, followed by other provinces. The meteorological institute warns of treacherous slipperiness from freezing rain and precipitation on the frozen ground.
From the end of the afternoon, the whole country can experience slipperiness. According to the KNMI, an area of precipitation moves from southwest to northeast across the country.
The notice applies from 19:00 in Noord-Holland, Flevoland, Utrecht, Gelderland and Noord-Brabant. Two hours later, the orange code is also in force in the other provinces. The alerts last until 2am Sunday through Monday.
With the orange code, the KNMI warns that there is “a great possibility of dangerous or extreme weather conditions with a major impact and a risk of damage, injury or a lot of nuisance”. People will then get a call to prepare, for example by staying indoors. The safety regions are demanding that driving behavior be adapted.
A cold wind will blow on Sunday afternoon. The temperature is between 0 and -2 degrees, but the perceived temperature is much lower, between -4 and -8 degrees.
