London: ICC has announced the prize money for the winners just days before the World Test Championship final.
The ICC has also announced the prize money for all the nine teams that will be part of the Test Championship, including the winners and runners-up. In a press release, the ICC said that the remuneration amount will not change from that paid in the 2019-21 Championship.
3.8 million dollars (about Rs. 32 crores) to be shared among the nine teams. The winning team in the final will get $1.6 million (roughly Rs. 13.21 crore). The prize money for the runners-up is eight lakh dollars (approximately Rs. 6.61 crore).
This year’s Test Championship final is between India and Australia at London’s Kennington Oval on June 7. This is India’s second consecutive final. Last year, however, India was destined to lose to New Zealand in the final.
Meanwhile, South Africa, who finished third in the World Test Championship points table, will get $450,000 (approximately Rs. 3.71 crore). Fourth placed England will get $350,000 (Rs 2.89 crore). Sri Lanka in fifth place will get $200,000 (Rs 1.65 crore).
The remaining teams of New Zealand, Pakistan, West Indies and Bangladesh will get $1 lakh (roughly Rs. 82 lakh) each.
