IC utilization continues to decline: ‘Favorable for other care’ NOW

The number of corona patients in intensive care dropped to 346 on Saturday, 32 fewer than the day before, according to the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS). In the past week, the number of corona patients on the IC decreased faster than in the previous weeks.

“The number of COVID ic patients has decreased by 36 percent in the past week, relatively faster than in the previous three weeks,” said Ernst Kuipers, president of the Landelijk Netwerk Acute Zorg. “That faster decrease is beneficial for resuming other care.”

There are still 522 non-corona patients in intensive care, 5 less than Friday. In total there are 868 patients on the ICU. That is well within the normal capacity of 1,150 beds.

There are still three Dutch people in intensive care in Germany, which are as many as Friday.

At the height of the corona crisis, on April 7, 1,424 Dutch corona patients were on ICUs, 46 of which were cared for in Germany.
