Ibrahimovic willing to return as a Swedish international: ‘I miss it’ | NOW

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is open to a return as an international from Sweden. The 39-year-old striker of AC Milan put an end to his international career after the European Championship in 2016.

“I’ll be honest: yes, I miss the national team. It’s no secret. Whoever doesn’t miss it has already ended his career. And I haven’t finished my career yet,” Ibrahimovic told the Swedish newspaper on Wednesday. Aftonbladet.

When Ibrahimovic, who was voted best player in his country for the twelfth time on Tuesday, was asked what he would say if national coach Janne Andersson were to call, he responded with a little more reservation.

“I would say: ‘Give me the time, I will think about it”, said the former player of Ajax, among others. “It has to come from his side. I should not be called in for the form, but really with the idea that I can contribute something.”

Ibrahimovic has already scored ten goals for AC Milan this season, which is partly because of this in the lead in Serie A. The attacker, who scored 62 times in 116 international matches, is currently struggling with a hamstring injury and has probably been out for three weeks.

Without Ibrahimovic, Sweden qualified for next year’s European Championship, where Spain, Poland and Slovakia are the opponents in the group stage. The Swedes did not get past the group stage in the last three participations.
