Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 41, made a comeback on the pitch on Sunday – after just over nine months with knee problems. The 41-year-old started in Milan’s 2-0 win against Atalanta, and is now hoping for more game time ahead in the latter part of the season.
– If I don’t set goals for myself, I relax and start to feel like I belong to the past. I don’t, I belong in the present and want to challenge my teammates for playing time. Otherwise I shouldn’t be here, he told DAZN according to Football-Italia.
When Ibrahimovic entered the pitch, he was greeted by cheers at the San Siro, and also received a text message from his former team-mate afterwards Massimo Ambrosini.
Speaking to DAZN, Ibrahimovic read out the message from Ambrosini.
– It says: “Welcome back, my friend. I’m happy for you, you seemed free in your movements. Hugs,” Ibrahimovic says the text message says.
At the same time, he answers live in the interview.
– Thanks honey.
Ambrosini belonged to Milan between 1995 and 2013, scoring 36 goals in 489 games with the Italian giants. Milan is currently in third place in Serie A.
