Zlatan Ibrahimovic threatened with punishment after being red carded last weekend. However, Ibrahimovic could have avoided sanctions if the referee admitted his mistake.
AC Milan away to Parma’s headquarters in Ennio Tardini in the Italian League continued, Saturday (10/4/2021) last night WIB. The match won by the Rossoneri 3-1 was marked by controversy over Ibrahimovic’s red card.
The incident occurred in the 60th minute. Referee Fabio Maresca gave a direct red card to Ibrahimovic, who was considered to have said harsh words to the referee.
After the match, Milan coach Stefano Pioli denied that the Swedish striker had spoken harshly to the referee. The Sky Sport report later stated that the referee Maresca had caught the words of Ibrahimovic wrong.
AC Milan are still awaiting a decision on the penalty Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The penalty for such a red card is usually a two-match ban, but can be reduced to one match on appeal.
However, Milan’s lawyer Leandro Cantamessa said Ibrahimovic could have avoided punishment. He said that the 39-year-old striker could play in the next match as long as Maresca admitted that there had been a misunderstanding.
“It all depends on what Maresca writes in his report,” Milan’s lawyer, Leandro Cantamessa, told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli as reported Football Italia.
“If he’s in doubt about what he’s heard, he should write it down, and the matter may have an unexpected and extraordinary twist.”
“If the referee admits he was wrong, then Ibra can play in the next match even though he got a red card in the previous match.”
“If that doesn’t happen, he could be banned from one game, but that would be very wrong. We can’t appeal if he gets banned from one match.”
“There is a misunderstanding. There is no need to add anything else. I heard what Ibrahimovic said and I don’t know what the referee heard, but I know Ibra did not insult him,” he stressed.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic So far, he has appeared 17 times in the Italian League and contributed 15 goals for AC Milan.
