IBM Unveils FHE Encryption Tool for iOS and MacOS Applications
The computer giant IBM has just released a tool to simplify the implementation of fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) on iOS and macOS applications. In theory, hackers should have a much harder time retrieving certain sensitive data that would usually have to be decrypted for use, such as your financial or medical data. Applications can also decrypt content very selectively, so that a user only sees the data they actually want to see.
Android and Linux versions coming soon
The tool is already available on GitHub for versions iOS and macOS. Variants for Android and Linux are expected “in the coming weeks”. IBM also points out that this work is “not perfect or finalized” and that the tool will not always be useful. It is, however, comprehensive enough to increase security when even a temporary decryption may pose a security risk. An additional solution in the data protection arsenal is always good to take.
