The development of artificial intelligence (AI) has gained momentum, forcing more and more large companies to review their business processes and consider replacing manual work with machines for efficiency and optimization purposes. In connection with this, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna revealed that it is not difficult to imagine that in the next five years, several thousand jobs in the company will be eliminated due to AI and automation.
In the interview on May 1, Krishna informed that the company has currently “frozen” those vacancies that are not related to customers, for example, human resources specialist, accountant. In his opinion, they will also be the first to be automated and to include AI solutions. Currently, approximately 26,000 employees work in IMB in these positions. Krishna revealed that he can easily envision 7,800, or 30%, of those jobs being eliminated by AI in the next five years.
According to some reports, AI-powered automation has already helped IBM save more than $1 billion, so it’s only logical that the company wants to continue on this path, and expect other tech giants to follow suit.
