The Socialist Party candidate for Congress for the Balearic Islands, Milena Herrera, has emphasized education as a fundamental pillar of progress and equality. Herrera has presented the proposals of her party in this matter and defends a “universal, free and quality” education. She points out that in recent years, the progressive government has made an unprecedented investment to improve the education system and bring it up to European standards. However, she points out that there is still a lot to be done and has warned of the risk of going back on these advances with a right-wing and far-right government. She says that her model “is that of segregation, of the parental pin, which limits the freedom of teachers and impoverishes the critical capacity of society.”
Regarding specific proposals, he has announced the will of the PSOE to extend the right to training and learning throughout life, universalizing schooling from nursery schools to professional training. He also stressed the importance of reducing dropout and school failure through specific measures, with reinforcement programs and educational support
The PSOE candidate has expressed her concern about the situation of educational centers with greater social complexity. She points out that a third leg of her program plans to increase resources and specific training to address the situation of centers that have greater social complexity. Likewise, she highlights that coexistence and the fight against bullying are and will be a priority for the socialist government, Herrera asserted. It also wants to reinforce the presence of mental health specialists and improve coordination between the education and health systems to provide comprehensive support to students.
It concludes that the PSOE proposals seek to guarantee an education of excellence, inclusive and equitable.
