Iberia turns to Latin America: its plan for 2023 | Airline news, rss1, rss2

Iberia strengthens its commitment on the American continent. The airline, which has already recovered all the long-haul routes it operated before the pandemic except those in Asia, currently has a total of 260 weekly frequencies to Latin American destinations, a figure that is expected to continue to grow. the coming months (Iberia and Air Europa recover their main source of income).

Iberia’s most significant increases in this market have been in Mexico (up to three daily flights) and in Colombia (where it will go from two daily frequencies to 18 weekly frequencies and, progressively, up to three daily frequencies). These two countries, together with Peru (where it will go from seven to ten a week, and the airline’s intention is to reach two a day) and Argentina, will focus Iberia’s offensive in 2023.

In addition, the company already offers daily flights to all of Central America, continues to grow in the Caribbean and is increasing its capacity in other countries such as Ecuador and Uruguay (Iberia is targeting the United States and Latin America in the winter).

“In all these destinations we will fly the same or more than in 2019,” says María Jesús López, commercial director of the company, who underlines their strength and anticipates that “Latin America will be at the heart of our growth strategy in 2023 “.

This year Iberia has also launched a strong offensive in the United States, opening Dallas and Washington, and already has eight destinations (New York, Miami, Boston, Los Angeles and Chicago, in addition to San Francisco, Dallas and Washington). The airline has 120 weekly flights between Spain and that country and has rolled out 15% more capacity in this market this winter than before the pandemic.
