Iberdrola México began the delivery of medical supplies in the Huasteca Potosina area given the continuity of the contingency due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It reported that in the town of Ocuiltzapoyo, located in the municipality of San Martín Chalchicuautla in the state of San Luis Potosí, it delivered 1,300 face masks, 170 masks and 100 N95 respirators that will help protect the elderly in the area and the staff of health centers.
Likewise, in Palictla, Tamazunchale, in the same entity, the company of Spanish origin distributed 800 more units of sanitary material.
“At Iberdrola México, we have a strong commitment to caring for and developing communities. For this reason, we continue to provide support to Huasteca Potosina so that together we can continue to face the pandemic, ”said Manuel Argüelles, manager of the Tamazunchale combined cycle power plant, owned by Iberdrola.
He explained that this donation, which in the next few days will reach 20,000 units, is in addition to the medical supplies delivered last year to various institutions in the region, including the IMSS 37 Family Medicine Unit with Hospitalization (Tamazunchale) and health centers from Huexco, Tepetate, Mesa del Toro and La Ceiba.
In total, the company last year donated 22,000 surgical masks, 900 N95 respirators, 500 face shields, 200 medical overalls, and 22 liters of antibacterial gel. Likewise, it distributed 2,900 pantries in 12 communities in the region.
In addition to these supports, Iberdrola México frequently carries out programs to boost the productivity of the communities near its facilities. For this reason, in August 2020 he began a series of agronomy and advisory workshops for local producers, with the aim of increasing the yield of agricultural plantations in the area.
“The expected results of these actions that are being implemented are that people begin to handle the appropriate techniques of citrus and corn crops, by implementing an appropriate technological package for fertilization and preparation of organic fertilizers. This with the purpose of improving production, the family economy and the environment, through the reforestation of the town ”, indicated the agronomist Horacio Hernández Martínez.
In a second stage of this program, the company began in 2021 the delivery of inputs such as pruners, fertilizers, fumigators and orange trees, to improve the development of agriculture.
With 13 years of presence in the Huasteca Potosina, Iberdrola México seeks to combine economic and industrial development with the social dividend, therefore it seeks to improve the environment and the quality of life of the communities through constant support, even more so in times of crisis .
