IBA and IOC dispute over the gender of Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-Ting. Strong words were said – Paris 2024 – Summer Olympics – Sport Wprost

The controversy surrounding Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-Ting continues to rage. The boxers are competing in women’s boxing at the Olympics. Both fighters advanced to the medal zone, and controversy has begun to grow around them, causing many to question their gender.

IBA reacts harshly to Khelif and Lin being allowed to compete at the Games

It all started with the decision of the International Boxing Federation (IBA) to exclude them from the world championships. All because they had too high testosterone levels. Despite this, they were allowed to compete in Paris, which was met with protests from their rivals. As it turns out, a year before the Olympic Games, the IBA wrote a letter to the IOC in which it warned that boxer Imane Khelif had the DNA of a “man”.

The Telegraph reported on an IBA press conference in which Chris Roberts, the director general, questioned why the IOC had not taken action. “They have not done anything about it because they are relying on their own criteria – which is basically a passport,” he said.

In turn, IBA president Umar Kremlev said that the Olympic Games were “trying to do everything to destroy women’s sports competitions.” “If the IBA was responsible, this would not have happened. Women’s boxing is being dirty,” he confessed.

IOC’s reaction to the leak of information about the list

The IOC responded to the words. Mark Adams, a spokesman for the IOC, confirmed the existence of the letter from the International Boxing Association (IBA) – But the tests themselves are ad hoc and not in accordance with the law – he said.

Adams also said the IBA, run by Moscow-born administrator Umar Kremlev, “has no credibility.” The IOC spokesman said the decision to test Khelif and Lin was made after one of them beat the Russian.
