Party Democrat surprised but respects the decision of senior politician Ilham Arief Sirajuddin (IAS) who switched to Party Golkar. The move of IAS to the party bearing the banyan tree is considered part of the political dynamics after the regional deliberations (Musda) of the South Sulawesi Democrats.
“Responding to the change of Mr. IAS’s party from the Democratic Party to the Golkar Party, we certainly respect it. Although we are surprised and regretful, this is a logical consequence of the political dynamics after the Musda,” said Deputy for Bappilu DPP for the Democratic Party Kamhar Lakumani to reporters, Sunday (29/5/ 2022).
Kamhar hopes that all Democratic cadres can accept the stages and whatever the results of the Musda are. However, Democrats said Kamhar would respect the IAS decision.
“Of course we hope that all cadres who are contestants in the Musda can accept the stages of the Musda results that have been determined by the Democratic Party DPP as a unit as stipulated in the AD/ART and organizational regulations regarding Musda and Muscab. But if then Pak IAS has other considerations in responding to this , we value and respect,” he said.
Kamhar ensures that what has been decided in the Musda has gone through careful consideration and process. Kamhar, representing the Democrats, expressed his gratitude for the struggles and achievements of IAS while joining the Democrats.
“Not all decisions can be accepted by all parties with grace. That is common in all organizations, especially in political parties. However, we make sure that what has become the decision of the Democratic Party DPP has gone through careful and in-depth consideration. The Democratic Party has actually prepared Mr. IAS as a candidate for regional head in South Sulawesi in the upcoming Pilkada, but of course, we respect the decision,” said Kamhar.
“Apart from that, we would like to thank you profusely for the work and real contribution of Mr. IAS for his struggle for the achievement of the Democratic Party in South Sulawesi so far. We also wish him success in his new place,” he added.

The inauguration of IAS as a Golkar cadre was held at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Makassar, South Sulawesi, Sunday (29/5/2022). The inauguration was carried out at a halalbihalal event held by Golkar cadres and volunteer Airlangga Hartarto.
“I put this suit on, it is the official symbol (IAS) of joining the Golkar Party,” said Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar DPP Nurdin Halid.
