Musician Ian McDonald died in New York. He was a co-founder of the band King Crimson, popular at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s, which represented progressive rock. McDonald’s also co-founded the Foreigner group. According to his son, the cause of death was cancer. Ian McDonald was 75 years old.

In the group’s debut album from 1969 “In the Court of the Crimson King”, the artist plays many instruments – including the saxophone, flute and vibraphone. The album is now considered a breakthrough as it initiated the introduction of classical music themes to rock and roll and significantly extended the length of the tracks. It is from this album that the recording “Epitaph” comes from.
