IAEA and Iran interim agreement for three-month nuclear inspection

Rafael Grossey, IAEA Secretary General. Reuters capture-The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has agreed with Iran to maintain nuclear inspections for the next three months. This is because Iran’s demands, such as the cessation of unannounced inspections, were accepted.

According to Reuters on the 21st (local time), IAEA Secretary-General Rafael Grossey met with reporters at the Vienna airport on the same day after visiting Iran.

Earlier, Iran had a nuclear agreement with the United States in 2015, but former US President Donald Trump withdrew from the nuclear agreement in 2018 and imposed sanctions on Iran. In response, Iran decided to expand uranium enrichment.

President Joe Biden said he was ready to engage in dialogue for the return of the nuclear agreement between the two countries since his inauguration, but both countries have argued over who will reach out for reconciliation first.

Iran proposed a plan for cooperation. The point is that the IAEA should stop implementing the Additional Protocol, which contains the right of unannounced inspection. Additional protocols with these details were included in the 2015 nuclear agreement.

In a statement to the agreement, the IAEA said, “The necessary inspections and inspections can be performed for three months.” However, it did not explain the details of the specific inspection and temple.

“The agreement with Iran is tangible and will serve as a bridge for differences in positions,” said Secretary General Grossey. I can see it.”
