“It urges the State to reestablish the rights and guarantees suspended by the legislative decrees of the exceptional regime, reaffirming that this exceptional mechanism cannot become part of its permanent citizen security policy,” states one of the 22 recommendations issued by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR).
The IACHR report was made public in the context of the thirtieth extension approved by the Legislative Assembly, during the eighteenth plenary session of the current legislature dominated by the ruling party Nuevas Ideas (NI).
The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) issued its “State of Emergency and Human Rights Report in El Salvador”which addresses a series of issues such as: citizen security, access to justice, the situation of persons deprived of liberty and freedom of expression, journalism and defense of human rights, among others.
