“I would vote for a cut”
Asked to comment on the latest reading, Gabriela Masłowska said that “it was to be expected that the pace of inflation decline would weaken”. – Nevertheless, we have a downward trend, quite persistent, for many months. Nothing seems to stop this downward trendthe more that we are also dealing with it in other countries in the vicinity of Poland – said the member of the MPC.
– If the downward trend in inflation continues and other macroeconomic factors do not change radically, I mean in particular the weak GDP growth rate abroad, as well as the weakening domestic economic situation, this is a reason to discuss lowering interest rates – assessed the former MP.

I emphasize that I am not speaking on behalf of the Council, I am presenting only my personal opinions. In my opinion, there are reasons to lower interest rates. JIf at the MPC meeting in September there was a motion to cut interest rates, I would vote for this motion – emphasized Gabriela Masłowska.
Not sure what the scale of cuts will be
So what would be the discount rate? The MPC member does not want to prejudge this. As she stressed, first it will be necessary to thoroughly analyze all the data that NBP analysts will provide to the Council before the meeting.
– In the face of high uncertainty, it is also difficult to say what scale of reductions would be appropriate throughout 2023 – she emphasized.
The next meeting of the MPC is scheduled for 5-6 September. It was postponed twice: first to September 12-13, and then to the initial date of September 5-6.
