She is beautiful, young and intelligent. She is one of the most popular actresses in Bulgaria at the moment. She is Desislava Bakardjieva. This is an interview of Tsveti Hristova, in which the actress will tell the readers of Sofia24.bg for your favorite things. The charming lady was born on December 4, 1978 in Sofia. Her love for the stage was born at the age of 4, when she sang a children’s song on the stage of “Hall 1” in the NDK. In 1997, she took the acting exams at NATFIZ “Krastyo Sarafov” and was accepted into the class of prof. Encho Halachev.
In 2013, she defended her dissertation on the topic: “The film industry in the modern information environment. Transformations and interactions” and was unanimously awarded by the committee with a doctorate degree. Regardless of her doctorate degree, she continued to study and in 2015 she graduated in film direction with Prof. Docho Bodjakov Bakardzhieva participated in numerous television shows and series.
The actress became popular among the Bulgarian public after her participation in the hit series “The Glass House”, where she played the role of Mola’s secretary – Nelly. Her success continued with her role as Diana in the series “The Family”. This was followed by her participation in the series “Stolen Life” as Doctor Hinova. She left the series to give birth to her second daughter – Vivian. At that time she lost the father of her child, the love of her life – Philip, who failed to fight off COVID – 19. When this happens she has already received an engagement ring, which she still wears today.
There are other difficult moments in this period, but as a true representative of the Sagittarius zodiac sign, he does not bow down to difficulties, but moves forward. The most important thing for Desi is family, and her biggest pride is her two daughters – Anna Maria and Vivian. We won’t talk about difficult times, we won’t mess with her wounds. We will try to show you what kind of person Desi is, what she likes to do, although she is uncomfortable talking about herself.
Desislava Bakardjieva is currently writing a scientific book about streaming platforms and has no other commitments. She works a lot, there are proposals for the theater and television, but she will keep them a secret until they come true.
– What is your favorite role?
– I love all my heroines. Up to this point, I have nothing to do with the characters I play. It is very interesting when I am associated with them. First, everyone compared me to Nelly, then to Diana, doctor Hinova… I would like to play many roles, both in the theater and in cinema or television. I didn’t want to frame myself or define myself, the same with what I wouldn’t do for something I love. Everything depends on the right motivation, clear and well-chosen arguments and the meaning of the final result. Being a professional in our guild in our modern times is a real challenge because you have to adapt quickly and effectively to the given circumstances, keep your cool in the face of difficulties and put your love to achieve the maximum.
– If you had not become an actress, what would you have done?
– You know that years ago I wanted to become a plastic surgeon. I have always wanted to help people, to have more beauty and good for our souls and bodies. I have learned from talking to many doctors in recent months that satisfaction comes when, after hope and hope, you see happiness and gratitude in the eyes of your patient. Then you feel victorious, and your soul celebrates – day after day, victory after victory, without noise, microphones and red carpets.
– What is your favorite activity at the moment?
To be with my children. I am proud to be a mother – it is the most meaningful and priceless thing in my life. There is nothing more real than watching your child grow and supporting them however you can.
– What do you spend the most money on in your life?
For your children, for shoes and bags.
– What makes you cry most often?
The real stuff, sometimes a good movie…
– Have you ever done “man’s work” at home?
Many times and very often, it’s not a big deal. After I learned how to drill tiles with a drill. IM doing well.
– What is your attitude to the “silicone mania” that has taken over women around the world?
– Fashion, the important thing is that it is not fashionable and healthy.
– In Bulgaria, too, the problem of population obesity is becoming more and more serious. How to deal with it?
– Sport is useful not only for maintaining good shape, but also for good condition and self-confidence. This is my opinion. The diet is also important, choosing the food we eat and walking. Everyone has to find their own healthy regimen and have the desire to deal with this problem.
– Would you participate in a reality show? In which?
– I prefer to participate as a presenter. I would even be happy if it happened to me. I had no desire to participate in reality shows in any other way.
– What cause would prompt you to charity?
– I have supported and support a variety of causes, for me this is extremely important. We are people, we have to help each other!
– If you had power, what is the first thing you would change in the country?
– I’m not one of those people who want power, I don’t think I’m suitable for a high position, I’m too creative. I think it is important to learn to love our country first, respect each other and appreciate the things we have. In the acting profession, people often only see the shine. The truth is, however, that behind every role in cinema, television and theater lies hard work, deprivation, lack of time for the people we love and many messages.
The truth that artists can convey a message much more strongly than politicians. I don’t understand politics and I never wanted to deal with it. I don’t know what opinion I will have in years to come, but now I don’t feel ready for such an appearance. I can only say that Stefan is an exceptional professional, very easy to work with and he does not in any way demonstrate his party preferences on the set.
– What do you think about the war in Ukraine?
– Every war is harmful to humanity, it is a huge tragedy and I want it to end soon!

It is curious that the great-great-grandmother of Desislava Bakardzhieva – Todora Merazchieva Bakardzhieva was an associate of Vasil Levski and a courier of the Central Revolutionary Committee. Lyuben Karavelov calls her the “Kazanlash Fairy”, Chudomir “Kazanlash Rose with Long Hair”, and Zahari Stoyanov in “Notes on the Bulgarian Uprisings” tells how she wore Vasil Levski’s saber in her skirts and the Bloody Letter in her hair.
Todorka broke the social norms and taboos of the time by becoming an actress and joining Dobri Voinikov’s troupe. She was the first to play a leading female role on the Bulgarian stage during a theatrical performance of the play “Raina Princess”, which was staged in Ruse sometime between 1872 and 1974.
The brave Bulgarian woman remains a favorite of the audience even after her return to her homeland, when Bulgaria was already freed from Turkish slavery. She joined the troupe of the “Osnova” theater, directed by Anton Popov from Kazan. Later – in 1888, together with Vasil Kirkov, he bought a plot of land in Sofia, where a wooden shed was built, in which the performances were given. The National Theater is located in this place today. Todora also plays in “The Metropolitan Drama Troupe” and “Tear and Laughter”.
In January 1904, the national drama troupe “Tear and Laughter” secretly renamed itself the “Bulgarian National Theater”, thus forming the team that laid the foundations of the National Theater, which became almost entirely state-supported under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Public Education .
