The El Salvador women’s team fell by a 6-0 defeat to Canada on Thursday night, in the debut that marked the historic participation of the national team in the first edition of the W Gold Cup. Salvadoran coach Erick Acuña said no He saw it as a negative aspect, but as a result that will help the team become stronger and become familiar with teams like the Canadians who stand out in the top 10 in the global ranking.
“We are playing with a very important team, I don’t like how they lost, of course, I would have liked to lose in a a little more dignified way, playing better, in the end I didn’t care about the goals, I wanted to see my team lose their fear to play with anyone, but it hasn’t been possible yet, we simply have to keep working,” he said.
The team lost by a landslide in the debut match, due to goals from Cloé Lacasse (3′), Jordyn Huitema (24′), Adriana León (28′, 59′ P), Kadeisha Buchanan (62′), Olivia Smith (86′ ), in a match where the Canadian team had total control of the ball and the field of play.
