“I wish they could be helped, not only sedated” / “Three days ago I was hospitalized with her, tied to the bed, sedated, so that she could resist” / “Psychiatric treatment did not help us, psychiatric hospitals are not ready”

A mother from Sibiu cried out her pain on Thursday evening on the stage of the Ion Besoiu Cultural Center in Sibiu, during a conference on drug use. Her little girl is addicted to drugs and says that in Romania in 2023 no one can help her, she writes Council Tower.

Psychiatric hospitals are not ready, the medical staff is outdated, there are no therapists, the laws in our country are more constraining her chances than helping her, there are no centers for minors. Her cry was in front of the Sibiu policemen, the politicians in the room, the authorities, doctors, psychologists, teachers and parents present at the conference entitled Your Extraordinary Success without Drugs “Yes to life, without drugs”.

“There are people here in the hall who know me. I’ve been struggling with this for days. My child is addicted. Now she is with her father in the room, locked in the house, afraid of going out and taking drugs. Three days ago I was hospitalized with her, tied to the bed, sedated, so that she could resist, because I could not stay with her. I am at the end of my strength”, the mother begins her story, with tears in her eyes.

The woman says she’s tried everything, psychiatric treatments, hospitalizations, therapy, but nothing works. The girl is naughty, she destroys everything in the house, she destroys herself. Her mother says she was a wonderful child, with very good grades, very talented and very intelligent.

“Intelligence was probably one of the reasons. Trying to impress, to try new things, to attract attention. The problem is that I haven’t found any solutions and that’s why I’m here. Psychiatric treatment did not help us, psychiatric hospitals are not ready. I was hospitalized twice in the Psychiatric Hospital here, in Sibiu. I sat with her there, the nurses are outdated, there are no therapists, the doctors sedate them so that they can support and control them,” says the woman.
