Naomi Osaka claimed she doesn’t mind losing to the likes of Amanda Anisimova after her surprise third-round loss at the Australian Open. The 20-year-old Anisimova recovered from a set deficit, surprised Osaka with 4: 6, 6: 3, 7: 6 (5) and reached the round of 16 of the Australian Open.
It was the first meeting between Osaka and Anisimova. “It’s exciting for me. Not the loss itself, but the person I lost to because it’s like showing the growth of tennis.
I feel like I’m in that position now where if I lose to someone, it could make headlines,” Osaka said, according to Sportskeeda. “But I also think more superstars grow from that, and I think that’s it good for the game.
So it’s like everything is going in circles.”
Osaka will likely delete Instagram and Twitter
After losing to Anisimova, Osaka said she would probably delete Instagram and Twitter.
“I mean, for me it’s always a tennis match, you know what I mean? I feel like things will come from the outside afterwards,” Osaka added. “But it’s funny, the first thing I’ll probably do when I look at my phone is delete Instagram and Twitter, and then I probably won’t download it again for a few weeks.”
Osaka lost the match, but she was happy with how she dealt with the loss. Osaka burst into tears after losing the third round of the US Open. This time, Osaka dealt with defeat much better.
“Yeah, I would definitely say I’m proud of myself for that. Although it didn’t feel like a short period of time to me. It felt like ages ago. But yeah, I think that’s the biggest step for me, even if I lost.
I think I was very focused throughout the match and didn’t hit rock bottom. That’s really good, you know,” Osaka added.
