/ world today news/ I will not allow the shutdown of “South Stream“, which the helpful opposition is trying to achieve, said the Minister of Economy and Energy Dragomir Stoynev at a meeting with business representatives in Blagoevgrad.
The construction will start this year, assured Stoynev and added that the pipes for the gas pipeline will start arriving in Bulgaria this month.
“South Stream” is of strategic importance for Bulgaria. The project will give a boost to the economy, secure orders for an extremely large number of companies, open tens of thousands of jobs. In addition, it will guarantee gas supplies and worries about possible conflicts in the countries where now the gas goes to Bulgaria, they will drop out, said Stoynev.
The price of the natural gas supplied by “South Stream” to Bulgaria will be much lower than the current one. Bulgaria will not give a penny for the project, and the loan it will take will be repaid from the transit fees, the minister pointed out.
“Against the background of all these advantages for our country, we are divided and we are doing everything possible to stop South Stream. However, this will not happen while I am minister,” Stoinev stressed.
