“I will be talking to the people, seeing the entire country. And the government in its scheme will work for the governability of the country.”
In her first work tour for a state governed by the opposition (led by the PAN leader, Mauricio Kuri, “whom we love very much,” said the president), she emphasized differentiating the political relationship with the opposition, associated with a democratic process. and the institutional relationship between federal and state governments.
“You have to work with the governors, yes. As long as there is a relationship of respect, we will always work together regardless of the political background we come from,” he said.
During a conference she offered to the local press (to which Social Communication of the Presidency did not call the national media covering the presidential tour, although Sheinbaum spoke about country issues), the President added that she had the responsibility to comply with the nation project that he committed to in his campaign, whose bases have been the reason for his political work for years.
Meanwhile, Mauricio Kuri expressed his willingness to work in coordination with the federal government to promote joint projects in the entity.
In response to the deferential treatment that Sheinbaum gave him, the PAN member commented: “For my part, I have always wanted you to do well now as President, so that you have all my unconditional support and that you do very well. Let Mexico do well, Querétaro do well.”
When asked about federal support in matters of security, Claudia Sheinbaum highlighted that one of the axes of the National Security Strategy is to intensify coordination between national corporations and state authorities.
The General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic and the state prosecutor’s offices must also be involved, as well as “to the extent possible with the Judiciary itself. Here all powers are responsible for building peace in our country. So, that is the strategy and we are already working with the state government,” said the President.
In this regard, Kuri commented on two violent episodes recorded last week associated with criminal groups from Guanajuato who were fleeing and were murdered in the entity. As soon as they met, the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, contacted him, the state prosecutor and the state security coordinator, which speaks of “the coordination, responsibility and above all the concern and occupation that he has the federal government.”
