Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani, Minister of Culture, revealed the details of the disappearance of some volumes from the Dar Al-Kutub stores, saying: “6 volumes of Al-Waqe’ Al-Masry newspaper disappeared from the stores.”
Nevine said, in her interview with the “On My Responsibility” program on “Sada Al-Balad” channel today, Sunday, on the sidelines of the activities of the third day of the Cairo International Book Fair, that she received the news two months after she took over the ministry, saying: “I was surprised that the disappearance occurred a year and a half ago, but No one reported it.”
And she continued, that legal measures were taken immediately in the case of the disappearance of the volumes from the Dar al-Kutub stores, explaining: “The volumes left the store for the imaging unit, and I did not know if they suddenly discovered this after a year and a half, and the matter did not happen at the same time as the announcement of their disappearance.”
And the Minister of Culture added: “The cameras have been reviewed and investigations have taken place, and there are officials in the prosecution who have been investigated and an inventory has been made of the store that contained the folders, and the inventory is still ongoing, due to the presence of huge quantities of books and documents,” stressing: “We have an ambitious plan to create a new place suitable for With preservation, and there are procedures that are currently taking place, and a new place has not yet been determined to save the documents.
